Tamworth Steel Celebrates 40 years in Business

Seventy employees brave the elements for a fun filled weekend away!

A snowy March set the scene for the company’s 40th Anniversary celebrations and employees and their partners from all branches came together to enjoy a weekend away including an afternoon of outdoor pursuits, despite the weather’s best efforts to dampen our spirits!

After lunch, everyone ventured outside for a variety of team activities including laser clay pigeon shooting, archery, falconry, team building and duck herding! A competitive atmosphere flourished in a bid to win the medals at stake with a good deal of friendly rivalry & cheerful banter and all displayed a huge amount of ‘bulldog spirit’ to overcome the adverse conditions.

A celebratory dinner was held in the evening and Managing Director, Jon Ratledge thanked all present for their hard work and expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the part everyone has played in ensuring Tamworth Steel continues as a successful family business. Reminiscing later in the evening Company Chairman, John Ratledge (Snr) commented how different the company is now to when he started in 1973 with just himself, a driver, an admin assistant, a warehouseman and a few bars of bright steel - things have definitely moved on since then!

A disco ‘til the small hours completed the celebrations and after a hearty breakfast and relaxing morning in the hotel, we returned home with fond memories of a truly fabulous weekend!
